How Mindfulness, Inner Child Depth Work & Parenting or Self-Parenting Come Together

“Children don’t learn regulation from instruction. They learn it from being with regulated adults.”

I recently attended the 36th Annual RIE® Conference Nature’s Path for Play: Creating Conditions for Authentic Playfulness on March 27-28. Amongst much wisdom and many lives dedicated to creating a world of healthy humans, this was a quote that resonated with me from one of the presentations.

It also shows us the importance of mindful awareness. For us to know what our bodies, minds and emotions are feeling, thinking or doing in a moment of distress. Especially when our child or inner child appear to be in opposition of what we want.

As a parent, knowing that when we feel rushed or distressed, the child will reflect it 10x back to us in their behaviors and distress, is helpful information to become aware of our inner world.

Learning to self-parent positively through inner child and depth work is not just for our own quality of life, but important to any little ones we may be engaging.
